About Me

My name is Mark O'Brien. I'm a superhero by day, writer by night, and productive human being by whenever I'm in the mood, which is not often. My writing is represented by Heather Flaherty at The Bent Agency, and she rocks my socks directly off my feet and into the stratosphere on a daily basis. I'm an editorial intern with Entangled Publishing, where I work with senior editor Kate Brauning mostly on YA. I won the Spotlight Student Award for Language Arts at my junior high school, so obviously I'm a pretty big deal in the general writing community. Most of my manuscripts are YA contemporary (ask me about that one 2012 dystopian with a love triangle, seriously), and they're mostly kissing books. Kissing books is the term, yes? Smoochy-smooch cuddly fun times? I can never remember.

I'm a dog/coffee/night/glass-half-full/nice person. I choreograph purposely terrible dances for my favorite songs. I believe absolutely everyone is good at heart. I am very much a feminist. My favorite food is all of them. I'm outspoken about dealing with mental health issues. I love you for reading all of this tomfoolery, and also because you're a human being and therefore deserving of love.

  1. Sounds like you already have worthwhile things written in your bio. Just sayin'. I enjoyed reading it.
